Good Morning! This morning I am welcoming myself into the 21st century by joining the throngs of other people who’ve decided to start blogging. It is no coincidence that this is happening in the month of January, and yes, I also joined a gym – New Year’s resolutions abound! As I searched for a name for this blog I found that many others have made this same resolution only to be thwarted by the month of March. I’m not sure what happens in March that discourages first time bloggers, perhaps the absence of a major holiday about which to blog? Or the presence of a minor holiday that revolves primarily around drinking? Either way, having felt the disappointment of all my first choice blog names being taken but not used, I am resolved to maintain this blog past the third month of the year, especially since March is, after all, National Frozen Food Month.
It is my hope that this blog will renew and refresh your spirit through thoughtfulness, through laughter, and through prayer. I can assure you that this will not be all serious-deep-spirituality all the time. But should you find that you need something deeper on a day when I’m feeling funny, please browse the links. Pages like Sacred Space provide excellent opportunities for scripture reading and guided prayer during your more contemplative moments. I’ve also included a couple links to fun blogs that I like to keep up with, for days when I’m feeling serious and you’re feeling funny.
In general, I will be posting about whatever I’m reading at any given time – Bible passages, news articles, text books, novels. I’ll post liturgies that you can pray through (my own and others), I’ll post poetry and seasonal readings for Lent, Easter, Advent, etc., and I’ll post book/movie reviews. I might even post about food because, to me, eating is often a heavenly experience!
I look forward to hearing from each of you as you walk your own path, and pray that my desire to create a space where spirits are nourished will be fulfilled through this and other resources. May God bless you today and in the days to come!
